One of my favourite pictures showing the livery on Sentinel rail car No 2140 Eagle from a recovered Steam & Sail slide. I don't think that modellers appreciate how widespread rail cars became where the service was on the modest side. For example, on the Leeds Central-Castleford line a railcar served all day, only except for the rush hour when a loco-hauled train was needed.

LNER Passenger Trains and Formations

The book took 12 years for me and Clive to complete and, though I say so myself, Ian Allan have made a beautiful job of it (see full description and sample pages). Vol.2 about the Secondary Services should follow in a year or so's time.
